Driving, cars, and traffic stops
A traffic stop compresses several different legal questions into about four minutes, usually late, usually when you are already nervous. The good news is that the questions are simple once you have separated them in advance. There are things a driver generally has to produce, things that are requests you can decline, and one decision — whether to consent to a search — that belongs entirely to you. Everything else is done afterwards, calmly, somewhere else.
In this lesson

- Documents are required. Answers are not.
- Announce every reach before you make it
- Consent to a search is yours to give or withhold
- The work happens afterwards
